Upload modern corrupt office suite files for text or data salvaging.
Despite file corruption, it
may be possible to avoid retyping or re-entering your data.
The file uploader currently shows no progress on
the screen despite successfully working in the background.
This service is designed to work with corrupt Office Open XML Microsoft
Office 2007 and 2010 - DOCX, XLSX
and PPTX format files and their
variants. It succeeds where the
respective Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 application fails to salvage the
text/data.
Additionally, this service extracts and data from intact non-corrupt files. The
service extracts text from Open Office Version 2.X and 3.X
- ODT,
ODS and ODP and their variant files. It also
works as a standard text extractor for MS Word 97-2003 DOC
format files and RTF. Finally it will even extract text
or data from Open Office Version 1.X - SXW, SXC and SXI extension
files and their variants. With all these additional format files mentioned
in this paragraph there is a possibility for extracting information from corrupt files but is unlikely to be
successful with these extensions.
Four
alternative results are returned for docx files, one for xlsx and three for
pptx. two result are returned for odt,
ods, odp, doc and rtf files. The alternative results are arrived at via different coding
algorithms so they may produce different results.
Also for local work
or if this service does not work,
try the freeware
Damaged docx2txt and
Corrupt
xlsx2csv which use different code from this service and may produce better
results.*
If none of these free
methods work I recommend trying the demos for
the commercial
WordFix,
or
ExcelFix. For PowerPoint recovery or other commercial recovery
